Alvin John Hartman attended Country School #5 in Pocahontas Co. Iowa. He married Mary Ann Helmers on August 29, 1954 at St. Paul Lutheran Churchin Palmer. The couple established their home and farmed in the Palmerarea. After the death of his wife Alvin worked for the City of Pocahontasuntil retiring.
He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
He was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Palmer. He was veryclose to his family and liked to play cards.
